Stoic Therapy and Practices.
Practical ways to improve your emotional life and mental health.

Stocism and stoic practical ways to improve your emotional life and mental health have been around for a long time and has recently seen an upsurge in popularity through the examples given by high achievers and those who use the stoic mindset in high-stress situations or environments to not only survive but also thrive and become high achievers.

In Hypnosis, EFT and NLP we have many tools that allow users to work out and understand how someone does something. Physical skills and ability a large part in how someone who indulges in physical activity does something.

You do need the physical ability usually after thousands of hours of right practice and often at these levels millions of goes at it. You become physically skillfull.

However, what mental or emotional drivers allows a person to handle and deal with the thousands of attempts at the mastery that will enable them to manage the thousands of times when they failed and the times they know will happen in the future.

The months when they were injured and were unable to practice. And always knowing that they will in most areas not be able to perform at this level for long and give it all up at some time in the future and move on. They will no longer be the person they now are.

Floods will rob us of one thing, fire of another. These are conditions of our existence which we cannot change. What we can do is adopt a noble spirit, such a spirit as befits a good person, so that we may bear up bravely under all that fortune sends us and bring our wills into tune with nature’s.
- Seneca, Letters from a Stoic

One of the things high achievers quickly learn is to understand failure and that it will happen, so they develop effective strategies to handle it. Most people attempt to avoid failure and risk, to achieve very little in life. Often they come to an end and wonder was that all it was.

What mental gymnastics does a survivor go through maybe someone who has suffered the most horrendous physical or emotional trauma and suffering, and after saying that it may have been the best thing that ever happened to me?

How does someone who has endured such things, move on to build a fantastic life for themselves? How do they deal with loss and the death of those around them? Within a few days.

Well, it is always how they handle things on the inside what they choose to think and how they choose to feel. This is the area that stoic practice and stoicism holds one of the most significant keys to human emotional wealth and prosperity and happiness.

“Choose not to be harmed — and you won’t feel harmed. Don’t feel harmed — and you haven’t been.” – Marcus Aurelius

It is not based on wishful or magical thinking and childish fantasy fairy stories, nor does it entertain our past programming or conditioning the ideas and concepts that we were conditioned to believe were accurate when we were younger. Instead, it asks us to take an honest and realistic look at how things are. And what we can do.

In therapy, you are always asked to tell it as it is and often the client will discover that the world is not like there fantasies. That many of there problems in life are the result of there own incorrect thinking and feelings and then blaming the world or others for how they feel.

By changeing how they think and feel they can remove thousands of adverse situations and feeling every year, and when something happens that is outside there control, which is most things, deal and handle it in a way that optimises the experience and allows them to profit from the event.

In having acquired the mental and emotional skills, they need to live well and as far as possible considered and happy lives. Your mind and emotions can be trained just like your biceps and other physical parts.

This is stoicism, and the mental and emotional techniques come into play, you could call it stoic therapy. A series of real-life tested methods developed in the real world designed to reduce mental and emotional anguish and pain.

The people who considered and uncovered these techniques lived in worlds far more dangerous and painful than ours. Daily they had to deal with situations and difficulties that many of us today would not last a few hours in without crumbling.

They learnt to live in the real world and to realise things will happen over which they had no control. So they planned and played and pondered about what they could to minimise the risks and unpleasantness.

One of the techniques is Negative Visualization or Practical Pessimism. You already do a simple version of this without even knowing it, and you also rely on many people around you who have visualised the worst case scenario and practised and planned and prepared for it, so they know how to deal with the problem if it happens.

Over time I will be adding links to pages on this site that will allow you to consider using stoic therapy and approaches in your own life to increase your pleasure and more importantly reduce your fears, anxiety, worries and other life's emotional challenges.

This is far easier than you may imagine many are now deciding that there life and happiness are important to them, so they are willing to train practice and play to live life well. Hypnosis EFT and NLP techniques make the process easier and faster as you quickly learn the reality that.

Your thoughts, your emotions, your feelings, You are responsible. No one else. Now that you have become aware of it. What are you going to do?

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor Frankl

Just one of the common misunderstands of life that other are responsible for how we feel. we may also have been told we are great, unique and can achieve anything.

Just for the fun of it, I thought I would look at some statistics from the 2016 Olympic games. These people are considered the best, and I assume all had put in thousands of hours practice and had advice from the best coaches there country had, with the best medical treatments and psychological and mental coaches out there.

Eleven thousand athletes compleated and 102 gold medals. That's a lot of losers, so does it helps to tell young people they can be anything they want to be?

Without training them in the mental and emotional techniques in how to deal with loss and failure, How to deal with the reality that you may have dreamed and trained and given up many things in life, and you are not good enough. Just a thought.
