Auto-pilot responses also called habits.
Auto-pilot responses also called habits are a vital part of our lives and and will influence the type of reality we live in. They are the things we do often and are designed to allow us to function using the least energy. They are automatic things that we do. With practice this can lead us to do very complex things. Like driving, typing and texting.
They occur when we have become unconsciously competent at something when we can do things automatically and with out thinking about the task. We can have good ones and bad ones, and they not only effect what we physically do they are also responsible for how we think, how we feel and how we behave.
According to Wikipedia;
Habits are automatic routines of behaviour that are repeated regularly, without thinking. They are learned, not instinctive, human behaviours that occur automatically, without the explicit contemporaneous intention of the person.
That last part of the above "occur automatically without the explicit contemporaneous intention of the person" is the important part for us.
Most of our emotional responses and how we think and feel are run on these auto-pilot responses.
Many of the problems that our clients face are due to these unconscious habits of feeling and thinking our job is to teach them how to stop it, and install more useful ones.
So that the new responses and habits, like positive thinking, changing the response they have to stress or to people around them that cause problems become different.
They become unconsciously competent at living a better life.
